SLCC Community cats is a volunteer-based organization of students, staff and faculty dedicated to helping the homeless cat population at Salt Lake Community College campuses. Our mission is to improve the lives of feral and homeless cats living on campus by humanely stopping their breeding through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). With TNR, feral cats are humanely trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their original location. The breeding stops, and the behaviors associated with mating stops (spraying, fighting, yowling). TNR is the only effective, humane, and long- term solution for controlling feral cat populations. Our mission is also to protect the welfare of cats, and to promote the humane treatment and well-being of these animals by:
- Supporting spay/neuter and health services
- Educating the community about living with and caring for feral cats
- Providing support for caretakers
- Promoting the placement of adoptable feral cats
SLCC Cats works hand-in-hand with the Advocates 4 Animals club at SLCC, and Best Friends.
